ROT RALLY

So, this weekend is the ROT Rally (Republic of Texas), which is going to bring some 10,000 motorcycle riders into and around my hometown, Austin, Texas!!
Tonight, Robbie Knievel, son of the late Evel Knievel will be preforming a jump in front of the Texas State Captial.
There is going to be an 11 mile motorcycle parade snaking its way through downtown Austin, and in from the expo center (where the rally is actually at).

In the past few years I have gone out to the parade route and then walked up and down the miles of show-bikes, but I am older now, I don't want to be around 25,000 of my closest and not so closest friends, who will show up for the parade. People come from all over the country for this weekend, and it is one of the biggest $$$ weekends for my city.

Also this weekend, the UT baseball team is in Omaha ready to play for another National Championship in baseball. The last time the UT baseball team won a National Championship was in 2005. It's time for another one.

I forgot to mention that it's well above 90 degrees here and is inching above the 100 degrees mark. Anyone who is outside will bake in an instant.
With it only being the first few weeks of June, this summer will go down in the record books for getting hot earlier and staying hot later and for having more 100 degrees days. Oh, the joys of living in Texas!!

Have a great, but safe weekend, and watch for motorcycles.

Friday night post

This has been a LONG week.
First off, Stellan is still hanging on. This week has been amazing as far as his life and his family are concerned. While he has been in the hospital fighting for his life, there has been a prayer blog set up for him here: http://prayingformckmuffin.blogspot.com/ and someone set up a prayer group for him on Facebook. I am in awe to see how so many strangers can come together to support, love, and pray for a 5 month old baby and his family, especially his mom.

I am still not feeling well. Well, actually I think I felt better for about 2 days, and now I feel bd again. Of course Texas weather isn't helping. For the past 3 days we have had thunderstorms and hail with each of them. We've had 2 cold fronts come through in a week and today it was 82 degrees and the wind was blowing really hard. The molds and tree pollen are really high, which is probably why I don't feel well.
My pain is getting worse. I have started a pain diary, in which I am writing down how many pills I take and when. I have taken much more these past few days that I thought I was.
I haven't slept much this week. My dog is terrified of thunderstorms (the thunder and lighting mostly), and she has been freaking out, which cause me to loose sleep because I have to be up with her to try to keep her calm.
I am hoping to sleep well tonight.

Well, that's all for now, I'm off to bed.

Tireless Tuesday

Well, for starters my grandfather is still in the hospital. This afternoon he had a drain tube put in to remove all the fluid and bile in his gallbladder. He is still in a lot of pain and spends his days sleeping. I have repeatdly told my mom that her and her siblings should make up a schedule so that everyone is not all there 24/7, but that hasn't helped. No one wants to miss anything, so they all stay up there. My mom, her 2 sisters, her brother, and her mom. One of my aunt's is at home sick. I have been up there once, but because I have little to no immune system I have stayed at home. We don't know when he will be coming home or what the long term plan is. We are just taking one day at a time.

I have started taking my tube feeds again, and starting to feel better. I have primarily stayed home these past few days, as the allergies are killing me and it has been a bit chilly and very windy lately, perfect weather for me to get sick in.

I haven't gotten my Christmas Picture done yet. The weather has not been good to take it outside, but hopefully tomorrow will be good. My dad is taking me and my dog Zena downtown to get them done. Then I have to write my Christmas letter and address and mail cards. Plus I have to get my pictures made at Target with a Christmas background. Hopefuly I can get all that done by the end of the week.
I cancelled my theraphy appt. today because I was just not feeling well this morning. I rescheduled for Thursday morning, and then Thursday afternoon I have a dentist appt.
I need to go back to the pain management Dr. this week because I am almost out of morphine, and I have to see the Dr. to get a refill.

My best friend will be in town this weekend, so hopefully we can find something to do together. We haven't spent much time together lately, and I miss her.

It's only 23 days till Christmas, and I have so much to do ( I still don't have my tree up), but I can't do everything in one day or I will wear myself out.

I am trying to remember not to commerilize Christmas this year, but remember the true reason for celebrating: Jesus' birth and Him coming to save the world. If you forget this this year, than Christmas will mean nothing to you.

Marvelous Monday

Today has been a good day, even though I never left my house or got out of my pj's. We had a cold front blow in last night and it dropped the temps, 20-30 degrees. Yesterday the high was 85, today it was 65. There is not a cloud in the sky and the sun has been shining all day. It's a little windy, but not bad.
This week is still looking good. All that I know of is that I have theraphy on Thursday, and the Carrie Underwood concert on Friday. Tomorrow is my best friend's 20th birthday, and we were suppose to celebrate yesterday, but I was having a really bad day. Hopefully, we can celebrate next weekend.
I am feeling some better than yesterday. I've not eaten as much today which gives my esphagus time to rest. I slept late this morning, and than took a long nap this afternoon.
We had some guys out to fix some of the panelling on the side of the house and the chimney.
Pizza is being delivered tonight, I have a new Wii to play, so I am off to enjoy the rest of the day.

Update on Tricia:
She and her husband are traveling to the hospital at Duke tomorrow for another biospy on Wednesday, as the previous biopsy wasn't enough. Please pray for traveling mercies, and that the Dr.'s will be able to get what they need this time.

Good Day

Today was a good day! It didn't start well though. I didn't go to sleep until 6:45 this morning and my mom woke me up about 10:45 this morning. I have been having severe insoumnia for several weeks now. I even took 3 sleeping pills and morphine for the pain, and I still couldn't sleep.
After breakfast my mom and I went to my grandparent's house, but not before stopping at a deli/coffeeshop to get sweets for my grandparents. My mom and grandmother had blackberry cobbler, my grandfather had buttermilk pie, and I had apple cake. I didn't eat lunch at my grandmothers' because what she made was too spicy and I knew it would never go down or sit well with me. After lunch my grandmother, me and my mom played a game of cards, and I won. Yeah!!!
My mom and I came home, she napped and I took a feed. It's the first feed through the tube I've had in a week. Afterwards, I took my dog and we went on a walk in the park/ on the trail. It took us 30 minutes to walk a mile and 1/4 . We came and had dinner and here I am.

I think today was much better than yesterday because I didn't eat as much today. The weather was beautiful today too. Cloudy but cool with a nice breeze. Much better than the 100+ degree days we had this summer.

Tomorrow I have talk theraphy in the morning, and then my dad wants me to come over because his *girlfriend* and her roommate are here from the coast until they get power and water back.

I still can't believe the tragedy that is occuring on the coast. It doesn't seem real. I can see the city of Galveston in my mind before Ike, and I can't imagine what it looks like now, with everything gone or made into rubble. I love the beach. It is so relaxing and calm. Growing up I always wanted to be a Marine Biologist. I know so much about Marine and Ocean life that I probably could go back to school if I weren't sick.

I finally got an e-mail that I got a comment from my blog. I thought for a while there that no one read my blog because I had never received any comments. I know it take a while to get a "fan" base, and I hope I get one soon, like the rest of my blogging buddies.
