New Allergy

A few weeks ago, I went to see an Allergist because I had been having some "allergy attacks" that required visits to the ER and shots of meds to get me through.
I didn't know what was causing the attacks, and I still don't, but I haven't had any lately.
The allergist did want to do the standard allergy test, so I had some blood taken and waited for 2 weeks. I got a call on Monday morning from the nurse and she said that allergy test results were back and aside from all the normal things I knew I was allergic to, a new allergy showed up. I am allergic to latex. Knowing that answers so many questions I have had about my health, but it brings up so many more questions.
Latex is in thousands of products, so many that there is a website that lists things that have latex in them.
I'm going to have to start avoiding things, that up until recently I had been able to be around.

The Next Morning

What a night! I went to sleep at 2am, was sitting up in bed at 3:30am itching like crazy, took some meds, and slept until 12:30pm.
I woke up with a host of allergy problems: stopped up nose, sore throat, red and puffy eyes, hoarseness, congestion. But, all these are also symtoms of having a flu shot, which I got yesterday morning.
I am only up for a little while and then I am going back to bed for my bed rest day and to get hooked up to my feeding pump, my "steak in a bag" as my uncle puts it or my formula.
My feet and abdomen are still swollen, but not as bad as last night, which makes me think that I can hold out until Monday to go and see the DR.
Tricia is feeling better this morning also. Thanks for your prayers last night.

mystery solved

Well, I had another allergic reaction early yesterday morning (like 6am). But now I know what I am allergic to: ibuprofen. I had taken 2 motrin at 4am because my knee and leg were hurting. Within 1 hour my face swelled up, I broke out in hives, and my throat started swelling close. I got up and took 2 of my anti-itching pills and 3 benadryl. That kinda helped but not really. Then when I got home at 9 that morning I took 2 more motrin because my knee was still hurting. But when I had the bottle in my hand something caught my eye at the bottom of the bottle it said: " a severe allergic reaction includes the following: hives, swelling of face and throat, and shock. ) Well, I had 2 of 3 so I figure I am allergic to it. Also, I had take ibuprofen that day back in December because I had a migrane, and within a few hours my face was swollen and I took that trip to the ER. But I have taken it before so I don't know what is different. I'm just glad to know what it was and I will add it to the last of drugs I am allergic to.
